                                                                          HOMEMADE OAT CEREAL

Those that are close to me know me as a homemade mama… Honestly, there is joy in making your own baby food, that is one of the best food memory you can give your child.

Do you buy cereal like oat, rice, wheat and others? if your answer is yes, I bet you do because you don’t know how easy and safe it is to make your own baby cereal. According to my research flours don’t last long on the shelf, I wonder how store-bought cereal powder last more than 2 years in a tin.

Oatmeal is a good starter food for your baby because oats are easy to digest, it contains a high amount of fibre, magnesium, iron and zinc. It’s a good source of nutrition that helps in their growth and development.

Many babies tend to have constipation when they start solid, starting their day with oatmeal help prevent it because oatmeal is a fibre-rich food that acts as a natural laxative to help prevent constipation. The fibre in oatmeal helps the bowel movement easier.

Dear mama friend let’s make easy and economical oat cereal!!!

INGREDIENTS

½ cup of oat

½ tbsp. applesauce

½ tsp nut powder (optional)

¼ cup water or nut milk

METHOD

Make oat powder by adding oat to powder/spice grinder, blend till you get a powder consistency

Take 1 or 2 tbsp of the oat powder according to your baby appetite, add 1 tbsp of water to make a paste

In a cooking pan add water or milk and bring to boil. Reduce the heat, add the paste and mix continuously until thicken and cooked.

Turn off the heat add the applesauce and nut powder. Let it cool and serve to keep any leftover in the fridge for a day and in the freezer for 1 month.

NOTE: Store the remaining oat powder in an airtight container and refrigerate. If you are using liquid nut milk you don’t need water just measure out the nut milk and boil, if the nut milk is too thick thin it with a little water.
